Below you will find the 10 Articles of Faith that New Beginnings find to be essential beliefs.  In these beliefs, the members of New Beginnings are unified.  When it comes to all other beliefs based on Scripture that are not listed below, we at New Beginnings have liberty--we allow for differences and diversity of views.

1. About God

God is the Creator and Sovereign Ruler of the universe. He is holy in nature and has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Genesis 1:1,26-27; 3:22; Leviticus 11:44-45; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:18-19; 1 Peter 1:2;
2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Corinthians 15:24-28

2. About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and eternally one with the Father.  Jesus became human—conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.  Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. After three days, He was raised from the dead by God, the Father, to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

Matthew 1:20-25; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 1:14, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15;
1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 2:22-24; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:13-16

3. About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He was sent by Jesus and takes up residence in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for victorious living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.

2 Corinthians 3:17; John 14:16-17, 16:7-14; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 2:12-13, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13, 3:16; Galatians 5:25; 1 John 4:13

4. About The Bible

The Bible is God’s word to all men. The 66 books of the Old and New Testament were written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth and authority for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it inerrantly reveals the will of God concerning all things necessary to our salvation.

2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Psalm 119:160;  Proverbs 30:5; Luke 24:44-47;
1 Corinthians 15:3-4

5. About Man

Man was made in the image of God, to be like Him in character. He is the supreme object of God’s creation. But man is now marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin, which began with Adam and Eve’s disobedience. This attitude separates man from God and because of this, every man is in need of reconciliation with God and restoration of his godly image through Jesus Christ.

Genesis 1:27, 3:1-13; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2; 1 Corinthians 15:45-49; 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

6. About Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God to man that is received through faith.  Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by fully trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty—which is eternal death.  When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved.  Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Salvation, or atonement, is made possibly only through the willing, sacrificial death of Jesus on the Cross.  It was the blood of Jesus that paid the price of every man’s sin and Jesus’ blood also cleanses us from all unrighteousness and frees us from the consequences of our sins in the sight of God, the Father.

Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:12, 14:6; Titus 3:4-7; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1, 6:23; 1 John 1:7-10; Hebrews 9:24-28, 10:11-13

7. About Free Agency

Man was created by God with the capacity to make moral choices.  We can choose good or evil, to obey or disobey God.  Our freedom to choose makes us responsible for our decisions and liable for their consequences.

Genesis 2:16-17; Deuteronomy 30:15-20; Matthew 7:13-14; John 1:12; Romans 12:1-2; 2 Peter 3:9; Revelation 22:17; Ephesians 4:20-24; Colossians 3:9-10

8. About Eternity

Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.

John 3:16; 1 John 2:25; 1 John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; Matthew 25:31-46

9. About the Church

The Bible refers to the church in two different forms—the Universal Church of Jesus Christ and the local church.

The Universal Church is the Body of Christ.  It is an organism comprised of all people who have asked Jesus to forgive them of their sins and have accepted Him as the new manager of their life.  It is this Church that Jesus is coming back for upon His return.

The Biblical model of the local church depicts a community of believers who regularly gather to encourage and nourish their life of faith in Christ.  The primary purpose of the local church is to build up the body of believers in Christ to a full realization of godliness as set forth in the scriptures.

Matthew 16:18; 1 Corinthians 1:2, 12:13; Ephesians 4:4-6, 5:23-24; Acts 13:1; Colossians 4:15; Revelation 2-3

10. About the Sacraments

We believe in and observe two sacraments, or religious acts, as commanded by Jesus in the Bible: Baptism and Communion.  Both acts are only to be exercised by those who confess Christ as Lord of their life.

Baptism is a public declaration of a believer’s faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and is to be performed as soon as possible after receiving Christ.

Communion, often referred to as the Lord's Supper, is a memorial instituted by Christ for believers to remember His sufferings and sacrificial death on the Cross.

Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41, 18:8; Colossian 2:12; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
